Performs a wide variety of nursing care activities for patients upon admission and as needed, under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Provides professional nursing care to teen, adult and geriatric patients. May delegate tasks to other LPNs, CNAs, Unit Secretaries, and transporters; receives information from other members of the nursing team. Specifically, the LPN must perform competently as a caregiver, utilizing the nursing process; maintain accurate and complete documentation; understand and implement policies and procedures; know and subscribe to the mission, organization and structure of the hospital; and be involved in risk management, Performance Improvement, and unit activities. REQUIRED: Must be a graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing. Must have a current North Carolina License Practical Nurse license and CPR certified. This employee will be required to demonstrate competence in the performance of duties specific to the age groups of the patients with whom he or she will be assigned. PREFERRED: Specialty course work or experience in assigned area. ACLS certification; PALS; NRP.
