Eldercare Advisor Duties & Responsibilities
The Eldercare Advisor position begins with a structured three month rigorous training program that focuses on the eldercare industry. In addition to the training process, Advisors will begin engaging in the sales process with A Place for Mom clients, called ?Families?. This sales process analyzes Families? needs and accordingly refers each Family to at least two Partner Communities. This is the inside sales component of the position and a summary of this process is listed below:
- Participate in each scheduled training session. - Pre-qualify (conducting a structured needs assessment) and refer families to APFM senior housing partners. - Notify each Partner property or service provider and follow up with the family and our partners until a decision is made. - Being knowledgeable about every elder care option in the area is important, so touring properties and service providers each week is required. These visits are critical for making high-quality matches and engaging property sales managers during the referral process. - This is a full time (40 hour per week) position. At least 4 hours of evening and weekend work is required each week to get in touch with families at times that would be most convenient for them, as this is a key way to ensure your efficiency and success. - Advisors should flex their schedule during the week to accommodate the night and weekend work, but work time will be monitored to ensure a 40-hour workweek is achieved. - Meet monthly sales quotas. - Establish and maintain an ongoing sales funnel of families in need of eldercare sources. - Leverage local eldercare community resources for knowledge base development.
After graduation of this initial three month structured training program, Advisors start the outreach portion of this role. Outreach is networking in the local eldercare community to develop professional referral sources. The goal of this is to generate half of the Advisor?s business leads from their own referral sources by the end of the first year. Advisors are required to conduct 40 outside referral development sales calls each month. Excellent referral sources are but not limited to:
- Partner Communities - Senior Community Centers - Attorneys, Financial Planners - Medical Professionals - Social workers & Case Managers - The Center on Aging
Requisite Skills
The ideal candidate will build and maintain excellent relationships with Families via the telephone. Advisors will also build and maintain excellent relationships with partners in their respective areas. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are required as engaging Families over the phone and Partners in the field is crucial. Strong community networking skills are also required. Excellent computer skills with the ability to multi-task are also a requisite; as well as the ability to be accountable and work in a completely virtual environment. Bachelor?s degree in gerontology, business or communication is highly desired. Industry experience preferred.
Compensation
Eldercare Advisors are employees (not independent contractors) of A Place for Mom and are compensated based on performance through a draw against commissions plus a bonus program.
Benefits & Stock Options
APFM offers a comprehensive benefits package which includes medical, dental, vision and 401(k).
Eldercare Advisors have several ways to qualify for stock options. The A Place for Mom stock is privately held. The options vest over a period of four years.
