Department: Patient Accounting, MHI Schedule: Full time hourly with Benefits Shift: Day shift Hours: Job Details
The Infusion Billing Specialist will process, edit, and submit electronic and/or paper claims to third party insurance's and self pay in an effective, efficient, and accurate manner to secure the greatest possible payment, in a timely manner. Must ensure clean claims prior to claims being submitted.
Five years of experience in Patient Accounting or related health care field. One year of experience for each year of college education in Accounting, Finance, or Healthcare Administration.
Requires detailed working knowledge and demonstrated proficiency in at least one specific payer's application, billing and/or collection process, with particular focus on billing specifications and contractual arrangements or multiple payer's insurance verification and pre-certification guidelines.
Requires basic working knowledge of additional insurance payer's billing and collection practices. Is able to obtain payer specific details, as necessary, and is able to complete additional payer billing and collections, as needed. Excellent communications and interpersonal skills. Basic computer knowledge and knowledge of billing systems preferred. Analytical ability to prepare reports using Microsoft Excel and/or Word. Medical terminology required.
