Health Information Management Customer Service Specialist Department: Health Information Management Schedule: Full-time Shift: Days Hours: 8a-430p Salary: DOQ Job Details: Responsible for processing all release of information (ROI) requests, specifically medical records, in a timely and efficient manner ensuring accuracy and providing customers with the highest quality product and customer service. Employee must, at all times, safeguard and protect the patient right to privacy by ensuring only authorized individuals have access to protected health information (PHI) and that all releases are in compliance with the request, authorization, company policy and HIPAA regulations. QUALIFICATIONS:
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Administrative experience in an office setting, previous release of information, medical records and/or related experience in a healthcare environment required. Proven customer service experience required. Ability to use equipment including telephone skills, fax, copier, computer, scanner and microfilm required. Ability to understand and/or become knowledgeable of release of information standards, policies and procedures, HIPAA regulations required. Effective verbal, written and organizational skills required. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining 100% accuracy, confidentiality and professionalism.
EDUCATION: High school diploma required. Associates Degree in Health Information Management or related field preferred.
EXPERIENCE: Minimum 2 years experience in a healthcare setting, preferably health information management.
