Global Environmental Health and Safety DirectorGlobal Environmental Health & Safety DirectorTracking Code2009699Job Description This position will provide global leadership and strategic direction for environmental health and safety programs, establish corporate EHS objectives and direct the activities of the EHS staff to control and eliminate incident costs, and assure Perrigo compliance with all applicable environmental, health and safety regulations. Responsibilities include: Manages the EHS function and supervises assigned staff including hiring, training, performance management, mentoring and development; develops EHS objectives/vision in conjunction with other functional department heads, provides effective communications, and develops and manages departmental budget. Provides EHS expertise to domestic and global sites relating to advising of potential safety/health hazards or environmental concerns and assists in correcting those situations. Provides expertise pertaining to Federal, State and Local Safety and Health standards, informs management and provides professional direction concerning risk management. Utilizes trend analyses and comprehension of compliance requirements to identify training needs, develops outlines for training programs, and aligns with Company's training strategy. Establishes clinic's overall vision and principles and monitors clinic's adherence, and reviews incident cases for trends, working closely with HR WC admin & clinic on WC case management. Participates in EHS audits/inspections of company facilities and ensures adequate follow-up for issues identified. Participates in various committees and steering teams as the EHS representative, facilitates active steering teams and forms and facilitates ad hoc committees consisting of various client areas for the development of safety, health and environmental standards and policies. Supports corporate social responsibility efforts. Assures timely and accurate reporting for all EHS regulatory requirements and conducts due diligence audits related to potential business activities. Monitors waste disposal and assures compliance with waste and discharge requirements.Required Skills Bachelor's degree in environmental engineering, safety, industrial hygiene or related field, and seven to ten years of environmental health and safety experience required. Prior experience in pharmaceutical or chemical operations highly preferred Certified Safety Professional (CSP) from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals or Certified Industrial Hygienist preferred Experience with corporate social responsibility programs Computer literacy with a working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Power Point and Word, SAP experience desired. Strong interpersonal skills are essential, as are excellent verbal and written communication skills.Required Experience Demonstrated ability to effectively lead and motivate teams with ability to develop and manage budgets. Demonstrated ability to influence direction across a complex global organization Demonstrated ability to interact with corporate executive leadership to create, implement and monitor EHS compliance policies Knowledge of compliance requirements and best practices, the ability to influence, and effective presentation skills.
