GENERAL PURPOSE
Responsible for the management and coordination of the daily operations for a long-term care pharmacy. Provide professional pharmaceutical care to patients to ensure positive drug therapy outcomes and proper education. Evaluate financial performance,department effectiveness, ensure optimum staffing levels, supervise the work of staff, address performance management issues and assist employees in performing all technical/clinical department activities. Manage the daily activities of the pharmacy, including the development, oversight, and monitoring of services, in support of policies, goals, and objectives. Support an environment that promotes optimal efficiencies, staff retention and superior quality of business office employees.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
* Manage the day to day operations of the long-term care pharmacy.
* Work with pharmacy staff to develop the expectations and measurements to maintain operational standards.
* Motivate and challenge staff to complete job consistently with accuracy and speed.
* Responsible for achieving financial, service and quality goals.
* Lead regular department meetings with staff.
* Oversee pharmacy prescription process flow, purchasing, contracts, packaging/pre-packing procedures, inventory management,accounts payable/receivables, collections and reconciliations.
* Ensure operations are within pharmacy budget and monitors expenses and overtime.
* Manage physical pharmacy branch building needs and requirements.
* Inspire staff to maintain continuous quality improvement and support of company initiatives/goals.* Assist in promoting communication and adequate information flow throughout the pharmacy.
* Assist in the development of quality improvements and prescription order accuracy
* Promote open communications between internal and external customers, to enhance cooperative efforts, improve pharmacy production performance.
* Ownership and accountability for the successful completion all pharmacy production/clinical duties and tasks and achievement of pharmacy branch goals
Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS
* Bachelors of Science Degree
* 5 years supervisory experience
* MBA preferred
* Two years of long term care pharmacy experience, preferred
* Bachelors of Science in Pharmacy degree from an accredited college or school of pharmacy, preferred
* Must be able to show proven leadership abilities
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES & BEHAVIORS
* Review and assure regulatory compliance (OSHA, State Board of Pharmacy, etc.). as well as adhere to all Golden Living's ethics, policies and procedures
* Understands, promotes and complies with rules and regulations governing residents' rights
* Keeps abreast of current state, federal and company policies, procedures and regulations
* Must be knowledgeable of nursing facility rules/regulations and standards
* Adhere to regulatory and company compliance, Code of Conduct and Business Ethics (OSHA,DEA, State Board of Pharmacy, etc.).
* Advise pharmacy staff on changes to any known regulatory changes/updates
* Must possess strong interpersonal skills
* Must have strong written skills
* Must possess strong leadership abilities to coordinate multiple associates and provide direction to accomplish job functions
* Must have strong organizational and communication skills
* Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point or other Windows based software programs
* Must be able to maintain confidentiality regarding patient and company proprietary information
PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS
Mobility, reaching, bending, lifting (minimum of 10 pounds), fine hand coordination, ability to read and write, the ability to understand
and follow written and oral instructions and directions, ability to travel, and ability to remain calm under pressure.
