GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES The Health Information Management (HIM) Director is responsible for assisting in the development and evolution of the overall strategy for the Company's operations in the Health Information Management Service Center (HSC). The HIM Director is responsible for managing and coordinating the day-to-day operations and workflow of the HIM department at the facility. The HIM Director interprets policies and procedures, recommends changes as appropriate, and provides relevant feedback. The HIM Director assists the HSC Operations Director with the oversight and implementation of HSC operational planning, service level agreements, budgets, workflow processes and internal controls. The HIM Director actively participates in the unbilled management process and resolution of issues contributing to unbilled accounts. As the HIM Director, this person serves as a key promoter of the HSC and is responsible for setting the tone of the center as a service organization, continuously seeking to understand, meet and exceed customer expectations and needs.

TRANSITION DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: Assists the HSC Leadership team in working with Shared Services Division (SSD) HIM on various HSC start up and implementation activities as defined by the enterprise HSC planning and deployment schedule Assists with pre-migration activities leading up to HSC start-up, including but not limited to forms management, operational assessment, action planning, and staff education Assists the HSC Leadership with planning, preparation and integration of facility HIM functions/processes into the HSC Participates in key communication efforts with HIM personnel, facility department leadership and facility leadership Serves as a liaison between HSC leadership and the facility during deployment Works with SSD education in transitioning Medical Staff to Portal/HPF technology Acts as HSC Leadership contact with SSD Education and facility Medical Staff Assists with technology implementation for consolidation of activities
DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: Responsible for facility based HSC operations, including but not limited to, tumor registry, trauma registry, processing of birth certificate/ paternity papers, record reconciliation, medical staff relationship management and hardcopy retrieval of medical records Establish effective working relationship with ancillary departments and managers to ensure optimal record management of inpatient medical records, including thinned record process and discharge record reconciliation Monitors facility HIM operations performance as outlined in HSC policy and SLA (Service Level Agreement) Coaches and helps develop team members; disciplines and counsels staff as necessary Ensures facility and state specific reporting requirements are met Proactively manages, including corresponding communications and escalation paths, significant issues in HIM operations (e.g., backlogs, turnover), status of projects, barriers and successes Responsible for facilitation and execution of physician notification processes regarding medical record documentation deficiency, delinquency and suspension Assists in the development of strategy, specific goals, objectives, budgets and performance standards relative to the facility HIM Department Assists in identifying and implementing process improvements to lower costs and improve service to facility and SSC customers Oversees facility unbilled activities to include: physician query follow up as needed, collaboration with facility department Directors in monitoring unbilled reports and management of unbilled process. Actively works all Facility HIM responsible HPF workflow Q's according to established workflow guidelines and schedules. Responsible workflow Q's including but not necessarily limited to the following: Facility HIM Department Q, Coding Pend for Q's (for all doc types), Temporary Review Q's (as used by facility), Case Management Q, and Wait for Q's (for all doc types) Performs productivity monitoring and provides timely and consistent feedback to employees and the Operations Director Responsible for ensuring employee work schedules for facility based HSC staff sufficiently meet those requirements as established by the HSC Leadership team and through executed Service Level Agreements (SLA) Serves as a liaison between the HSC Leadership and Facility Leadership May serve as the facility privacy official, records management coordinator and/or serve as the HSC liaison on other facility committees that may be related to HIM Serves as custodian of medical records for facility housed records Coordinates training and education of facility based HSC staff Participates in facility and Shared Services teams, committees and/or task forces Responsible for implementation of standardized policies and procedures, tools, resources, and educational materials Builds and maintains strategic working relationships with the facility and department leadership (working through specific issues, committee meetings, monthly updates, etc.) Works collaboratively with Medical Staff and Facility Leadership to comply with standards and guidelines enforced through the Medical Staff Bylaws/Rules and Regulations, (e.g., suspension of privileges) Acts as liaison to Medical Staff for HIM Operational functions Assists in identifying and implementing process improvements to decrease costs and improve service for applicable stakeholders Ensures and assists in proper orientation and training for Medical Staff on HSC and facility policies and procedures Ensures and assists in proper orientation and training for Medical Staff on enabling technology, including but not limited to, dictation system, MEDITECH, and the hCare Clinician Portal Maintains knowledge in the areas of Medicare Conditions of Participation, compliance, government and state rules and regulations, and The Joint Commission Promptly reports issues or trends to the appropriate member of the HSC Leadership team, or other appropriate party Practices and adheres to the Company's Code of Conduct philosophy and Mission and Value Statement Other duties as assigned

Undergraduate degree in Health Information Management required, Bachelor's degree preferred.
Experience Requirements:
Minimum 3 years HIM operations experience strongly preferred Minimum 3 years healthcare management experience (recent acute care hospital )
