Communications Specialist Department: Community & Physician Relations Schedule: Full Time Shift: Day Hours: M-F/8-5 Job Details: * SUMMARY The communication specialist is responsible for developing, managing, implementing and tracking the Medical Center's communications plan, managing all community events, managing the development and implementation of internal and external publications, managing the websites, manages all social media, and the management of all media relations. This position provides support to product and service lines and other departments as necessary. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Contributes to the overall department marketing plans and specific service lines as assigned. 2. Provides copywriting and editing for newsletters and other marketing publications. Develops newsletter format, writes, arranges photography, secures approvals, and follows through with production and distribution. 3. Provides communication support to administration, human resources, volunteers and other departments as assigned. 4. Manages media inquiries for the hospital, including patient information, medical resource interviews and crisis information. Acts as hospital spokesperson when necessary. Manages external media consultants as necessary and appropriate. Initiates, develops and maintains contacts with professional associations, physicians, media representatives, public and private agencies, and other individuals and groups related to healthcare. 5. Develops press releases and media pitches on an ongoing basis to promote Jupiter Medical Center programs, technology, service lines, physicians, and team members. 6. Writes feature stories for internal and external marketing publications. 7. Manages website development and maintenance for respective services on JMC websites and on sites that the Medical Center has partnership for market development. Develops opportunities for marketing services using available technology. Provides editing and copywriting for all Jupiter Medical Center websites. 8. Manages and coordinates special events, their communications and budgets, hospital fundraisers, grand openings, anniversaries and others as assigned. 9. Manages and coordinates booth setup and staffing for health screenings. 10. Assists with development, writing, production and budget management of collateral materials; supervises and coordinates with network graphics support. 11. Coordinates and routes news clippings, current events and newsworthy information to executive team; assembles all news clippings and distributes appropriately. 12. Generates innovative solutions and ideas that support the goals of the marketing department. 13. Assumes other responsibilities as assigned by director. Qualifications Bachelor's degree required; communications, journalism or public relations preferred. Minimum three to five years of healthcare marketing and/or communication experience. Understanding of managed care, hospital operations and healthcare financial environment. Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with all members of an interdisciplinary team, as well as media resources and internal and external constituents. Excellent budget management skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent organizational and detail follow-up skills.
