Coding Specialist (5050) Department: (5000) Health Information Services Schedule: Full-time Shift: Day shift Hours: 80 hrs/pp. Mon-Fri. Job Details: - Associates degree is preferred - Certification Required - Experience is preferred Job Summary: The Coding Specialist is responsible for accurate, compliant, and timely coding of hospital inpatient and ambulatory surgery records. The assignment of accurate codes is required to assure appropriate reimbursement from all payer sources, compliance with all federal and state regulations, and to obtain accurate administrative data for quality and other internal and external reporting purposes. This position impacts billing, reimbursement, compliance, quality, and data reporting functions for the organization. Job Requirements: Minimum requirements of RHIT, RHIA or eligible and/or CCS. CPC-H with relevant hospital coding. Completion of required educational components is a pre-requisite for RHIT and RHIA eligible candidates to be considered. Knowledge of and ability to apply ICD and CPT coding terminology for hospital inpatient and outpatient services. Experience preferred.
