Description
The Sutter East Bay Medical Foundation is a not for profit corporation that exists to provide medical services, research and education. The foundation provides the infrastructure for the delivery of physician services, and contracts with a separate corporation comprised of physicians and other care providers to deliver the clinical services. This multi-specialty foundation will provide a platform from which new physicians can be recruited to continue to provide physician services in a nonprofit, community setting. The Foundation's vision is to create a medical group that will deliver high quality, market competitive medical services.
This position is both a training and problem solving position. Responsible for the oversight of training and educating all levels of professional staff. Perform chart documentation audits, educate the physicians on current coding practices, assures that all compliance standards are met and perform adhoc projects as requested by the Director. Work with Coding Supervisor to ensure encounter forms are updated with all current CPT and ICD-9 Codes. Will inform the Director of coding changes/updates. Will require traveling to specific sites to provide and receive education.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's degree or five years experience in a health care environment related to coding and auditing in an ambulatory care multi-specialty setting required.
Certified Professional Coder (CPC or CCS-P) required.
Experience:
Expert knowledge of CPT, IDX-9 and HCPC codes required
Thorough understanding of Medicare, Medi-Cal and other payor documentation, compliance and coding requirements.
Experience related to the development of training materials and presenting to groups
Three to five years of coding and chart auditing experience in multi-specialty medical group preferred.
Knowledge:
Extensive knowledge of CPT, ICD-9 and HCPCS coding as well as Medicare, Medi-Cal and Third party billing guidelines and regulations. Medical terminology needed. Ability to work under minimal supervision. Strong organization skills. The ability to determine priority assignments.
Special Skills/Equipment:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in the English language. Organizational skills are required. The ability to pay attention to detail is required. The ability to prioritize work. Skills in developing teamwork among members of the multidisciplinary team. Ability to keep information confidential.
