Coder (Non Certified)
JOB DESCRIPTION: Coder (Non-Certified) Position Summary :
Primary function is to review patient medical records, assign appropriate ICD-9-CM codes, CPT codes, DRGs and APCs, for statistical reporting, financial reimbursement and research purpose by the Center.
JOB REQUIREMENTS: Experience :
1-3 years acute care coding preferred
Education :
Associates/Bachelors Degree in Health Information Technology completed or equivalent work experience
Required License / Credentials :
Eligible for one or more of the following exams: RHIA, RHIT, CCS or CCS-P eligible for examination.
Other Required Skills :
Knowledge of anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, pathology of disease, ICD-9-CM codes and CPT 4 codes
Contact With Others :
Occasional contact with other persons outside own department within the Center.

Supervision Received :
Works under general supervision in performing routine assignments, referring unusual or more difficult situations to immediate.
