Position: Clinical Research Coordinator III Site: Toronto Western Hospital/TWRI Department: Neurosurgery Reports to: Principal Investigator Hours: 35 hrs/week Status: Temporary Full-Time Working under the direction of the Principal Investigator, the Research Nurse Coordinator II is responsible for working on assignments that are defined in terms of general research goals; completed assignments may be reviewed to ensure conformity to research objectives. Identifies instructional needs and seeks appropriate resources; assesses research participant eligibility for study inclusion, symptoms/responses to therapy and recognizes when a situation requires escalation to a more senior level; maintains professional practice knowledge and aptitude, as defined by relevant RHP College; leads self and peers by conduct and example. This position is in research related to Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) for psychiatric neurologic conditions. The successful candidate must have psychiatric neurologic assessment skills and be willing to learn external programming of deep brain stimulators. The position entails being aware of current ongoing DBS clinical trials; participating in the pre-operative, peri-operative and post-operative course of patients enrolled in these trials; and ensuring procedure and reporting compliance of these trials with the institutional research ethics board. QUALIFICATIONS * Bachelor’s degree, or recognized equivalent, and current certificate of competence (licensure/registration from a college legislated under the Regulated Health Professions Act) * Holds recognized certification in clinical research (e.g., ACRP or SOCRA) * Minimum three (3) years clinical and/or professional experience, and * At least three (3) years clinical research experience * Maintains accreditation and membership “in good standing” with relevant RHP college * Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario Bachelors degree, preferred * Experience with psychiatric assessment skills is preferred and considered a strong asset * Demonstrated relevant clinical research knowledge an asset * Neurosciences clinical or research experience is an asset * Excellent written and verbal communication skills, excellent organization, prioritization skills, good computer skills, ability to learn quickly and work independently * Excellent interpersonal skills * Ability to work under pressure and attention to detail * Client service oriented, with the ability to effectively work with diversity and appreciate that people with different opinions, backgrounds and characteristics bring richness to the challenge or situation at hand * Certification as a Clinical Research Professional, preferred
