The Clinical Research Assistantperforms activities in support of the coordination and implementation of clinical research protocols within the Beetham Eye Institute and Eye Research Section that improve patient enrollment, education, and satisfaction in the clinical trial research program and ensure adherence to trial protocol requirements.
Responsibilities: * Assists with patient recruitment/enrollment for clinical research studies to meet desired quotas, obtains informed consent from patients for participation. * Schedules clinical research-related patient appointments. Takes corrective action with patients not adhering to protocol timelines. * Creates and maintains organized source documents including (but not necessarily limited to) study enrollment logs, case report forms, and Committee of Human Studies (CHS) applications and progress reports on a timely basis. * Performs timely online data entry for clinical study visits as necessary. * Administers patient satisfaction and general knowledge surveys regarding clinical research studies. * Participates in patient education initiatives regarding diabetic retinopathy and clinical trial research opportunities at the BEI/JDC, discusses clinical trial offerings with patients scheduled for regular clinic visits to maximize interest and patient enrollment * Maintains patient study enrollment logs, ensures accurate count of expected and projected revenue for budget purposes. * Monitors/orders necessary supplies.
Qualifications: * BA/BS, medical or social sciences degree preferred * College internship in related area * Previous experience involving interaction with patients or clients preferred * Previous experience coordinating clinical studies a plus * Previous experience in a medical field preferred * Knowledge of electronic medical records preferred
