Clinical Nurse Specialist-CV Department: Cardiology Category: Professional Type: Full-Time Shift: Day Description: Position Summary: This position is accountable for assuring the quality of care for patients seen or treated in the area of cardiovascular services. The Cardiovascular Clinical Nurse Specialist (CVCNS) serves as a clinical expert, educator, and consultant to the staff, physicians, patients and their caregivers. The focus of this position is on accomplishing superior outcomes for patients and their families who are cared for in the Cardiovascular Service Line/Institute. The CVCNS fosters multidisciplinary relationships and linkages that support implementation of innovations; leads interdisciplinary groups in implementing patient care programs across the care continuum; coordinates with physicians and medical groups as necessary to enhance service provision. Care delivery is based on evidence-based best practice, is outcomes oriented and data driven. The CVCNS exemplifies professional nursing practice through expert education, consultation, research, practice and management/leadership activities. The CVCNS is a leading nurse expert in cardiovascular care across all settings, and acts as a resource for, support to, and leader of cardiovascular resources within the hospital. In a collaborative manner, the CVCNS leads in the design, implementation, and evaluation of new programs, projects, and systems regarding cardiovascular care. S/he participates in the development, implementation and evaluation of the education plan for employees in all CV settings (Med/Tele, ICU and others). The CVCNS, in conjunction with the other members of the CV team, facilitates and coordinates the planning, implementation and evaluation of the competency program for the cardiovascular nurse in all CV settings. S/he is a champion for the utilization and implementation of clinical research and clinical pathways within the specialty. The CVCNS provides consultation and education to students, staff, and other healthcare providers including serving as liaison to cardiovascular physicians. When need arises, will perform other duties as assigned by Director. Position Qualifications: · Effective interpersonal skills – oral and written, and presentations. Bilingual preferred. · Requires three years of clinical experience as a staff nurse. · Requires previous experience in educational activities related to the scope of nursing practice. · Requires effective collaboration, problem-solving, negotiation and written and verbal communication skills. · Requires knowledge of computer software applications Education: · Master’s degree in Nursing required. License: · Requires current nursing licensure in the state of California. Certification: · Clinical Nurse Specialist certification in the state of California, required · BLS, ACLS preferred · CCRN Preferred. May accept applicant that agrees to obtain certification within 2-years of hire. Requirements:
