Clinical Lab Scientist, Supervisor
Microbiology
Salary Starting between: $65,400-88,290-111,180/Yr.
Shift: Variable
Appointment: 100%

Summary:Responsible for all technical, and supervisory duties in an assigned division of the lab. Performs a wide variety of laboratory tests by manual methods or use of various mechanical or electronic devices. Performs the full range of duties form specimen procurement through data analysis and reporting, in order to provide data for use in the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and/or research of human disease.
o Required:
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
Must possess the skill, knowledge, and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
Baccalaureate Degree in an appropriate scientific field
Must possess a valid California Clinical Lab Scientist License
Must be willing to testify in court regarding testing activities if subpoenaed
Must be willing to work variable shifts and overtime as required
Two years applicable experience
o Desired:
Working knowledge of UCI Policies and practices
Prior experience in supervision
o Lab Science
*Accurately and efficiently prepares patient data
*Accurately handles/processes/tests specimens according to appropriate protocol
*Accurately maintains required records of laboratory tests conducted, preparing reports as required
Accurately performs laboratory inventory control and other clerical duties as needed
*Appropriately assists in the training of new staff, students, and co-workers, as needed or required
*Appropriately investigates specific procedural modifications and unexpected test results to determine reason for non-conformance to established patterns
*Appropriately provides quality control surveillance at various levels
*Appropriately utilizes knowledge of physiological significance of test results
*Correctly performs mathematical calculations
*Effectively assists in the development and evaluation of procedures
*Efficiently and accurately uses appropriate techniques
*Ensures lab instruments are functioning properly and appropriately handles repairs
