We are looking for candidates who want to be a part of an innovative and growing teaching organization dedicated to providing the highest level of care to the children it serves. The CVICU is a 12-room designated area adjacent to the PICU. It includes two fully-equipped procedure rooms that enable physicians to perform life-saving surgery on children who otherwise could not be transported out of the unit. All of the CVICU rooms are outfitted with leading-edge technology equal to the demands of monitoring children after complex operations. The unit also features a satellite pharmacy and an onsite blood-gas lab for respiratory therapy.
Charge Nurse - CVICU The Charge Nurse is aRegistered Nurse who provides first line supervisory oversight for a specific unit during a designated shift. Ensures that quality care is provided according to policies and procedures, that patient flow/placement is efficient and that daily staffing needs are met to assure the highest quality patient care, safety and satisfaction. This position requires * Min. 4 yrs of experience in a pediatric critical care setting (preferably pediatric CVICU) * Excellent interpersonal and communication skills * Ability to consistently function in an environment that includes varying unpredictable or crises circumstances, while exercising appropriate interpersonal and critical thinking skills * Ability to work efficiently in an environment subject to numerous interruptions, e.g., multiple demands, inquiries, special project requirement, critical deadlines. * Current CA RN license, BLS, PALS * CCRN required (or within 6 months from date of hire) * BSN (or within 2 years from date of hire) This Position Prefers * Leadership/management experience * Master's of Science in Nursing or Master's degree in related field * Minimum of 1 yr of charge nurse/relief charge nurse experience Join CHOC's multidisciplinary team and make your mark!
