Job Requirements:
* Demonstrates the ability to obtain information and interpret information in the terms of the patient s needs.
* Demonstrates an understanding of the range of treatment needed by patients.
* Performs adult, pediatric and neonatal studies with a high degree of accuracy and efficiency.
* Demonstrates technical expertise in 2-dimensional echocardiography. All structures are adequately defined and measured and/or demonstrates technical expertise in cerebrovascular ultrasound.
* Possesses a working knowledge of anatomy and demonstrates significant pathology by utilizing recommended and stated views as related to procedure. Distinguishes normal and abnormal anatomy on scans. Appropriately determines when all anatomy is adequately demonstrated and recorded before terminating an exam.
* Performs Doppler exam and understands blood flow patterns by Doppler spectrum analysis.
* Performs the Doppler scan by using pulse, continuous, and independent probes, recognizing normal and abnormal flow patterns.
* Demonstrates technical expertise in performing color flow scans. Produces real-time images of optimal quality. Understands and able to delineate color flow patterns.
* Assists the physician in obtaining real time images, demonstrating all structures and recording diagnostic findings.
* Performs a stress echo exercise study by acquiring and storing diagnostic real time 2 dimensional images during the resting and exercising phases of the heart. Works with the cardiologist to obtain the most optimal images to evaluate the heart for side-by-side comparison between rest and exercise.
* Echocardiographer: Performs a non-exercise pharmacologic stress echo study by acquiring and storing diagnostic real time 2 dimensional images at baseline. Low dose, peak dose and impost phases during the administration of pharmacologic medication. Works with the cardiologist to obtain the most optimal images at each phase for comparison.
* Assists the operating room physicians as requested and approved by department manager and/or physician in obtaining real time images.
* Carotid ultrasound technologist: Performs Doppler exam and understands blood flow patterns by Doppler spectrum analysis. Performs the Doppler scan by using pulse, continuous, and independent probes, recognizing normal and abnormal flow patterns.
* Demonstrates technical expertise in performing color flow scans. Produces real-time images of optimal quality. Understands and delineates blood flow of cerebrovascular system.
* Assists the neurologist in obtaining transcranial images
* Has a full understanding of the procedural findings for the preparation of preliminary reports to assist physician in final interpretations
* Reviews and makes recommendations for policies and procedures as requested.
* Performs other job related duties as requested by manager.
* Properly documents in the department log book all procedures performed and uses appropriate physician/staff notification process for completion of a study.
* Uses technical work flow sheets for measurement documentation and information sharing with the physician. Understands that the flow sheet is not a definitive or final result and that the physician use of the flow sheet and the review of the study will provide information for the final report as dictated by the physician.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
* High school diploma or equivalency required.
* Transcranial Doppler experience preferred.
* CPR certification required.
* Carotid ultrasound experience preferred (a must for carotid ultrasound tech position)
* RDMS or RVT preferred.
* Echocardiography experience, prefer experience with all stress echo procedures.
