The primary purpose of the Radiation Oncology Billing Specialist position is to provide billing and compliance support within the Division of Radiation Oncology. This position provides business support to clinic and administrative personnel within the Division of Radiation Oncology. Specifically this position reviews all professional and technical documentation daily on all radiation oncology patients. This position is responsible for reviewing all physician and hospital documentation, appending ICD-9 codes, appropriate modifiers, and determining the correct complexity for all CPT codes used in this course of radiation treatment.
KEY FUNCTIONS
The incumbent's time will generally be distributed as follows: ' Compliance and Charge Capture 50% ' Billing and Coding 30% ' Data Collection and Follow up with Faculty and Administrators 10% ' Project Management 5% ' Denial Management 5%
EDUCATION
Required: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Hospital Administration or related field.
Preferred: Certified Professional Coder from an accredited organization.
EXPERIENCE
Required: Three years relevant business experience to include two years in a radiation healthcare environment. Relevant experience must include business office functions, XRT billing and coding, cost accounting and data management responsibilities. May substitute additional years of related experience for required degree on a one 'to-one basis. *
