ASSISTANT OR MANAGER
SUMMARY:
In collaboration with the Nurse Manager, the Assistant Nurse Manager assists in the management of a defined patient care area to provide a climate optimal for the provision of individualized, goal directed nursing care that supports the mission, vision, values of the Hospital and the philosophy of the Nursing Department and promotes, advocates for and supports the nursing staff's primary commitment to protect the health, safety, and rights of the individual, family or community. The ANM is accountable for their practice and care coordination. The ANM is expected to practice autonomously.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Demonstrate expertise in selecting and managing unit based staff.
Demonstrate commitment to customer focused care.
Utilize effective problem solving techniques and service recovery as appropriate.
Assist the Nurse Manager in the design and implementation of a plan for staff development and unit growth.
Provide care in an evidenced-based environment.
Practice autonomously, consistent with practice standards and research based policy/procedures
Exercise independent judgment within the context of interdisciplinary patient care
Provide care/treatment/services within the theoretical framework of modeling and role-modeling
Delegate tasks appropriate to meet the needs of the individual patient and to the skills of the employee supervised.
Plan, implement, revise and delegate nursing care with patient safety as the primary goal.
Perform necessary technical skills as delineated through education, expertise, and unit requirements.
Document pertinent data and initial appropriate reports in a concise and timely manner.
Incorporate teaching into all aspects of nursing practice.
Participate in development and evaluation of professional practice by participating on unit and/or hospital committees, special projects and attendance at staff meetings and town halls. Create environment to encourage unit based staff participation in above.
Participate in health promotions and educational community involvement, life time learning and nursing research.
Actively participate in unit and/or hospital performance improvement activities.
Attendance and being on time, ready to work your scheduled hours is an essential job function.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Graduate of a Professional School of Nursing, BSN /MSN preferred
Licensure/certification/registration: Texas RN license, National Specialty Certification preferred
Experience: 2 years hospital nursing experience in area of clinical specialty with Supervisory experience.
Special Skills & Qualifications: Ability to listen, interact and communicate verbally and in writing.
