JOB SUMMARY
The Allied Health and Biosciences Laboratory Assistant manages the overall operation of the allied health and bioscience laboratories with the goal of fulfilling technical, financial, and personnel objectives to ensure provision of the highest level of education.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Possess an A.S., B.A., or B.S. or equivalent in an allied health or sciences area with relevant laboratory experience.
2. Experience in Excel; computer literacy in Word and Outlook.
3. Ability to plan, organize, make decisions, and prioritize work to meet deadlines.
4. Exhibit a professional manner and positive attitude.
5. Physical and emotional qualifications: speaking, hearing, walking, standing, ability to lift 25 pounds, eye/hand coordination, and consistency of temperament.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work in a collaborative manner with the Director of Allied Health and Director of Biosciences to ensure productive laboratory environments.
- Responsible for maintaining inventories, ordering supplies, and stocking
- Oversee day-to-day laboratory activities, including the smooth operation of essential scientific equipment and laboratory automation.
- Responsible for supporting laboratory activities for assigned faculty.
- Monitor safety processes for allied health and biosciences.
- Collaborate as appropriate with other MATC facility employees on routine and special projects.
- Ensure effective record-keeping policies and processes; track lab equipment and maintenance schedules.
- Maintain confidentiality of student records, student performance, and other program matters.
- Perform other duties as assigned
LENGTH OF CONTRACT: Twelve (12) month classified position; part-time (20 24 hours/week), 7:30 a.m. Noon, Monday through Friday
SALARY: Salary commensurate with experience and level of educational attainment.
GENERAL STATEMENT OF FUNCTION: Supports the management of the allied health and biosciences laboratories as well as the Directors of Allied Health and Biosciences and faculty within the allied health and biosciences departments.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the policy on evaluation of classified staff.
