Job Overview Principal Electrical Design Engineer We are seeking a talented and experienced electrical engineer to lead development projects within Cardiovascular and Ablation Technologies Division (CATD), focused specifically on Ablation generator technology, the EnSite Velocity mapping and navigation technology along with the EP-WorkMate recording system family of products. This individual will responsible for detailed hardware and firmware designs, development plans and reports, verification activities, appropriate test methodology, and design transfers to production. Impact this role will have within the CATD division: . Leads and participates on engineering teams in completing development projects. Identifies and mitigates project risks. . Mentors junior level Engineers. . Completes system, analog, digital, and firmware designs. This includes setting and revising requirements and specifications, debugging, testing electrical circuits and systems, and completing documentation to ensure feasibility and verifiability of performance. . Effectively communicates the project successes, risks, and roadblocks to the appropriate management levels. . Conceptualizes new designs using technical expertise and innovative approaches. . Interfaces with various internal functions, outside consultants, vendors, and the medical community. . Supports animal studies, bench testing, clinical evaluations, and production . Ensures compliance with procedural and documentation requirements of SJM, FDA and ISO design controls . Leads and contributes to strategic initiatives for continuous improvement . Solves complex and diverse technical problems by applying sound judgment, creativity, appropriate data analysis, and technical expertise. Relationships: . Internal: Daily interaction with VPs and Directors, Project Manager, R&D Engineers, FCEs and cross-functional teams. Collaborates with Engineering, R&D, Manufacturing and other departments as needed to provide design, development testing and deployment of projects. Confer with project team members to address work procedures, complaints and status. . External: Establishes relationships and regularly interacts with vendors, regulatory and test (UL, TUV, ESA, and Material Test Lab) agencies, and contract manufacturers as necessary to successfully plan, design and implement new or enhanced products, and resolve technical issues Required Qualifications: . Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to effectively communicate ideas to facilitate change at all levels of the organization. . Bachelor's degree in Electrical or, Bioengineering and 12 years relevant experience or Master's degree in Electrical or, Bioengineering and 10 years relevant experience. . Six or more years of direct experience in medical device industry. . Experienced in system design, embedded system design, analog and digital circuit design. . Familiar with embedded software and FPGA/VHDL design experience. Knowledge of real time operating system. . Printed circuit board design, schematic entry, and design simulation . Demonstrated strong technical and analytical/problem solving skills. . Experience managing engineering projects and/or formal project management training . Experience with engineering change orders, documentation needs, protocol and report writing. . Familiarity with FMEA, DOE and QSR design control. .
