ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Directs the activities of Information Technology Support (ITS) Systems Management Center and Data Center Operations area by establishing goals and overseeing daily activities to ensure effective business operations; authorizes hires, separations, disciplinary actions, or rewards; assigns and monitors work; prepares and conducts performance evaluations; provides training and technical assistance; and resolves work-related conflicts Oversees ITS initiatives to ensure that the client business objectives are being met and that technical projects are designed to improve customer operations; reviews and provides input on statewide technical initiatives, including the state data center Participates in ITS strategic planning efforts such as reviewing production goals, identifying budgetary needs, and allocating resources to accommodate technical project requests Provides excellent customer service to internal and external customers Uses personal vehicle for business-related travel Attends work regularly in accordance with agency leave policy Complies with all agency policies and procedures, including but not limited to applicable security and safety rules, regulations and standards MARGINAL JOB FUNCTIONS Performs related work as assigned MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Graduation from high school or equivalent Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university; may substitute full-time database, network, computer systems analysis, programming, or closely related experience for the required education on a year-for-year basis Eleven years full-time database, network, computer systems analysis, programming, or closely related experience, three of which must have been in a supervisory, managerial, or lead capacity Experience managing or directing personnel in an Information Technology environment Skill in using a computer for word-processing and data entry/retrieval Skill in effective oral and written communication with people of various technical levels Skill in managing special projects and meeting deadlines Ability to develop and implement strategic and information resource plans Ability to create a positive work environment Ability to provide excellent customer service Ability to use personal vehicle for business-related travel PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university in Computer Science or a related discipline Knowledge of effective leadership techniques Skill in team building techniques TRAVEL 15% required
