Position Title: Medical Assistant Department: Genesis Health Group Purpose: Supports and participates in the provision of safe, effective and culturally competent care for clinic patients under the supervision of the practitioner. In addition, provides clerical support for clinic operations and actively participates in quality monitoring and performance improvement activities. Report To: Site Supervisor Supervisory Responsibility: No Supervision: The job does not require the provision of guidance or supervision to others. There is no formal responsibility for directing others. Materials Responsibility: Limited: Work requires limited responsibility for material resources. Examples of resources could include supplies, equipment, inventories, small budgets, and other similar material assets. The employee has a limited amount of control over these resources. The cost of errors is also limited in terms of damage, waste or financial loss. Problems associated with material resources are not complex. The volume of resources may vary, but the level of difficulty in dealing with these resources is uncomplicated. POSITION SPECIFICATION Education: High school plus additional course work up to 1 year Field Of Study: Medical Administrative Assistant Special Training: Basic Life Support, Mandatory Abuse Reporter Training, keyboarding, computer experience Training Preferred: ICD, CPT, Best Practices for Immunizations, Certified Medical Assistant Experience: More than 1 year experience required. Interpersonal Skills: Interaction is with a variety of people inside or outside the organization. Communications are of moderate difficulty and sensitivity. Contact with others may involve detailed & lengthy dialogues & exchanges of information. Requires a moderate amount of interpersonal skills. Interactions involve dealing with moderately complicated problem situations or stressful encounters. Physical Demands: Moderate Intensity: Work requires moderate physical exertion. Forces exerted are equivalent to lifting between 10 and 25 pounds. Job requirements for manual dexterity or physical manipulation are also moderate. The need for physical stamina and endurance is of some significance. The degree of physical strain produced on the job is somewhat taxing, and maybe fatiguing. Work could involve a considerable amount of walking, standing, a confining or tiring work position, or periods of sitting in one position. However, freedom of movement does exist. The position exceeds these moderate intensity demands rarely, 10% of the time or less. Working Conditions: There is limited exposure to moderately adverse and undesirable environmental conditions.
