Posting Job Title: Staff Engineer - Electrical Systems (Woodlands)
Department: Operations Admin
Dept Group: Sustaining
State: Central Singapore
Job Summary: Responsible for the design and development of electrical systems for Illumina's genetic sequencing instrumentation involving subsystems such as embedded microcontrollers, memory interface, motor drivers, analog-to-digital control systems, and power supplies. . Work with engineers in Singapore, the US, and the UK to integrate these sub-assemblies into larger, complex instrumentation. The position will involve hands-on technical tasks involving all aspects of the product development process, including technical feasibility, development of engineering specifications, design and analysis, test and characterization, management of external suppliers, and generation of production documentation.
. Board-level electronics design of cutting-edge genetic analysis instruments incorporating optics, fluidics, motion system, and advanced image sensors/camera.
. Design of analog and digital circuitry to support the above including embedded microcontrollers, memory interface, motor drivers, analog-to-digital control systems, and power supplies.
. Execute subsystem designs from early concept phase through Pilot and Release to manufacturing.
. Lead and execute design worst-casing (power, timing, temperature, etc) and lead design qualification and testing.
. Provide support for either internal manufacturing or critical suppliers, troubleshooting production line issues related to yield, quality and throughput.
. Drive selection, qualification, and management of critical suppliers for devices and volume manufacturing tooling.
. Follow best practices in Schematic Capture, Layout, Design for EMC, and Design for Assembly and Design for Test.
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATION:
. BSEE required; MSEE preferred
