SUMMARY:Under direction, to provide professional psychiatric services to patients at the Alameda County Medical Center John George Psychiatric Pavilion and to do related work as required.
DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:NOTE:Following are the duties performed by employees in this classification are not all-inclusive. However, employees may perform other related duties at an equivalent level. Not all duties listed are necessarily performed by each individual in the classification.
1. Provides psychiatric evaluation and treatment across a variety of settings including psychiatric emergency, urgent care, and inpatient services.
2. Prescribes appropriate treatment plans and therapy, psychotherapy or rehabilitation programs.
3. Acts as physician member of a multi-disciplinary team for clinical work or program development.
4. Trains and supervises interns and residents.
5. Provides clinical supervision to licensed and professional staff.
6. Prepares reports and maintains records of activities.
7. Conducts and directs individual and group psychotherapy.
8. Confers with patients' relatives regarding illness and treatment.
9. Maintains records of diagnosis, treatment and prognosis according to JCAHO standards and other regulatory agencies.
10. Develops comprehensive case histories.
11. Strives to provide culturally effective care to diverse ethnic populations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Completion of an approved psychiatric residency.
REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:Possession of a valid license to practice psychiatry in the state ofCalifornia.
