The Systems/Projects Coordinator (or OR Information Systems Administrator) is responsible for the upkeep, standardization, system integrity, maintenance and support of the ORIS for departments using the ORIS including but not limited to Bramhall OR, Brighton Surigcal Center, Central Booking, Cardiology scheduling and other ancillary areas. Will act as a liasion to other departments who support and interact with the ORIS including Information Services, Admitting and Materials Management. Will maintain knowledge as appropriate for other systems which directly impact the operation of the ORIS including but not limited to Materials Management system (currently Meditech), the patient registration and billing system (s) (currently MIS and Medipac) and the Financial costing accounting system (currently DSS). Responsibilities include maintaining system integrity, writing reports, maintaining surgical blocks for all areas of the system except BMC, maintaining standards, maintaining documentation and other system maintenance. Incumbent will work with OR staff and other system support staff to provide perioperative supply case cost analysis. Incumbent will work with appropriate staff to ensure that training is provided as necessary and standards are maintained throughout the system.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required
* High school diploma or equivalent. Associates Degree or four year degree highly desired. 5 years prior experience in health care related field. Perioperative support experience deisred.
* Knowledge of and experience with data analysis techniques, data integrity, data collection and aggregation and the appropriate use of alternate data display techniques.
* Strong customer service orientation.
* Strategic thinker with excellent tactical abilities.
* Outstanding organization and documentation skills. Self-starter, ability to work independently and ability to meet deadlines. Needs ability to focus on detail, but also needs ability to understand and implement strategic departmental and management goals. Needs to apply and understand how detail level data affects strategic goals.
* Experience with report generating tools such as Excel, Access and Crystal reports, Ability to apply report writing logic to learning new tools.
* Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff. Excellent written communication skills.
* Independent judgement is demonstrated in times of need along with the ability to seek guidance and/or support from appropriate resources.
* Knowledge of scheduling process, surgical supplies, and charging processes in a healthcare delivery system.
* Knowledge of medical terminology and CPT4 and IDC9 coding is helpful.
